RE: Who takes good passport photos anyway?

SO! I received my passport the other day, yeah... still not so keen on the photo. But my sister told me about the conversation that went down with her husband aka my brother from another mother.

B.F.A.M: *after checking my passport* "I thought you're not allowed to smile your passport photos"
SISTER: "She's not smiling in her passport photo"
B.F.A.M: "yes she is"
SISTER: "ha! No she's 'smizing' "

I literally laughed out loud. Thought I'd update ya'll (whom ever is reading this nonsense).

Keeping it short and sweet.

ALWAYS BE THE BEST VERSION OF YOURSELF!

P.S if you don't know what I'm blabbing on about check out my previous posts. (theres not many lol)

Until next time

Blast from the past

Have you ever gone through old emails/texts/letters/facebook private messages read them, and thought to yourself wow who is that person? I just so happened to go through an old email account. My curiosity got the best of me. I flicked through a couple of emails. Reading them I was thinking to myself, really?
It's like a cheaper version of time travelling in my opinion(if it were invented). I didn't realize how much I have changed. If I could email my younger self  it would go down like this:

Hi 19 year old Joy,

This email is from the future you (don't you roll your eyes at me missy).I just wanted to email you and give you a head's up to better prepare yourself.  In the next few years you're going to lose some of the closest people to you in your life at the moment. Don't stress, turns out you can survive without them.
Try not to sweat the small stuff, over time you realize they weren't that big nor important. You'll see the bigger picture. You don't do it all the time but you learn. Although at some point you will  probably feel like you've hit your lowest, GET OFF YOUR ASS AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT RATHER THAN WHINGING.  For example, in the near future you run a marathon. Seriously. But no you're not a size 12 yet. Sorry.
You may lose some good friends but you discover some great friends instead. You learn to be selfish, a good selfish trust me. You leave the country to be selfish, it gets that extreme.
Now when it comes to Family, don't take them for granted. Right now, you think you know everything. Honey! Get real! You don't know nothing. You'll see that family is a lot more than annoying right now. They'll be your back bone, the best support team you'll ever get in life. Your worst and harshest critics. The voice of reality at times but your stuck with them because your family lol.
To sum this up before it becomes a novel, no you don't get married at 21. Now that I think about it why would you ever want to?! Yes you leave and finally move to Brisbane. No, house sharing isn't always like the tv show F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Yes, your best friends are still there for you no matter what.

The rest of the stuff I know you can handle on your own.  Never stop pushing yourself to being the best you can be.

Love yourself always

23 year old Joyous

p.s Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Heath Ledger they all die. I know sooo sad. Oh and Osama Bin ladin. And Iphones are AMAAAZING!

I don't regret my past ever. At times I feel like I wish I could change somethings. But that's just life, you just gotta go with the flow at times and hope you land on your feet.

One love

Who even has a good passport photo...

If you do have one, I don't want to know. Because the only thing that can get me through the fact that my new passport photo is absolutely hideous is that everyone has bad passport photos.

Today I needed to take my passport photos, thought to myself  "Yup! Early finish from work today, I'll just and get them done". It wasn't until the little old sweet lady handed my photos to me that I thought to myself "oh crap! Why! OH WHY!" Didn't think she was so sweet after that. (Not that she was at fault at all lol)

But that's just it. Why do passport photos have to be so serious and dull? I always get awkward doing mine. How could you not? First of all your facing a cue of people who are trying to post or pay bills (this at the local post shop) staring at you, when you sit in that ugly wooden stool as they pull down that white sheet thingy ma bob(yes, thingy ma bob). I can't help but automatically smile when she holds that camera up, then get constantly told "Darl, no smiling please." Then instinctively I want to turn and angle my face, ladies you know what I'm talking about. For some of those aren't familiar with what I'm talking about, almost every girl knows their angles. You learn from all those "selfies" you take when your bored at home and upload on to your facebook.Don't pretend you haven't seen them on your newsfeed. The lady then says "No turning please, face straight on." Here I am thinking to myself dammit. I'm going to try one more thing to at least make this picture an improvement from my last passport "mug" shot. I'm going to try and smize aka smiling with your eyes. This technique I had adopted from the many seasons of ANTM (America's next top model) I watched. Tyra Banks would continuously go on about "smile with your eyes."

The first flash goes, I can feel I eyes automatically close. Dam. "Oh eyes closed in that one, just remember keep ya eyes open" the lady said with a hint of annoyance.

Thinking to myself : okay, okay smize Joy just smize

The second flash comes , all I see is the lady look at the lcd screen on the camera and let out a quiet giggle. "oh we'll take one more" with a small smirk behind the camera.

Suddenly I realize during all this time I have all these faces staring straight at me. How embarrassing.

Stuff it just look straight at the camera.

And that is why I hate passport photos, and to top it off  they were just equally as bad as my last mug passport photo. Such a let down.

But ending on that note, who really does have a good passport photo? I was going to upload mine, but came across this on google.

Until next time. Always be yourself. Unless you can be Beyonce. Always be Beyonce.

So this is what its come to..

Let the blogging and hopefully video blogging begin.

The names Joy friends call me Joyous

The whole point of this blog is :
a) beat my sister with her blog (sibling rivalry at its finest)
b) blog daily just because I can
c) test my creativity

Facts about myself:

  • 23 years old female(going on 17 at times)
  • It seems that no matter what, I will be haunted with people singing to me "Joy to the world" as if they were the first person to sing it to me.
  • I am of Samoan heritage, born and raised in New Zealand and now lives in Brisbane, Australia.
  • I can't speak Samoan to save my life. ( I tried to learn it in high school and I failed. true story)
  • I live with a random asian lady that  I suspect maybe a hooker.. (no evidence to prove as of yet haha)
  • In my head I can dance and sing like Beyonce. BOOM.

That's it for now.
